it gets boring. plus, stressful. they want us to choose between them instead of branching off in different paths and innovating in different ways. instead they just try to outdo each other in the same old same old.

Why fix what ain't broke? Anyway, of course they innovated. Sony invented the PlayStation, and when they were releasing a sequel to it, Microsoft came up with the XBOX. Right now, the PSP is in direct competition with the Nintendo Whatever, so when they add something new to their device ("innovate" it), then Sony does too. I think it's capitalist market at it's very best. Competition leading to innovation leading to development.
