The one time we went through a hurricane, we went to stay at a hotel while we waited for the people to turn on the power in our side of the city. We had a tree in our kitchen. My sister was supposed to take my school supply shopping, but took me to the house and left me there all day in the heat ._. hurricanes aren't fun.

Hurricane Ike just hit us in Ohio.
For the last 2 days we had no internet, cable, tv, and other things. Trees are broken down smashing cars, someone's house got hit... The hospital I work in was out of power for over 12 hours completely. The backup generators only held the life essential equipment online, other than that, we moved everything from the fridges, into the freezers. If this was only half the windspeed and hardly any rain... I think I'll avoid any hurricanes in the future. |
Still without power at the homestead and camped out at my grandmother's. At least now I have my own PC rig set up. Power should be restored by Thursday. I'll take a hurricane every blue moon vs. iced over roads. I was in the Cinci area one time when it iced over. Driving was insane. I also understand its a regular occurance. Count me out. I guess my point is...mother nature is a right royal pain in the ass no matter where you live.

Hahaha yeah every winter "black ice" is all over the roads... just walking some days like I did once from school was fun. I didn't see the patch of ice, walked right over it, and almost knocked myself out.
At least during the snow storms I'm not afraid of power outages, my house being ripped apart like some of these are, etc. x.x |
Weather's pretty weak down in Australia. Most dangerous thing we have to face at the moment is probably the threat of a drought.
