Pretty sure she is the most unique thing to be involved in pop music in the last 10 years. Music is going to sound the same, I don't know what reason you wanna hate on her, maybe it's just cause its your kinda music? But don't justify hating on a person you don't know with some bullshit reason like that.

Jikanu 09-15-2009 01:12 AM

in what way is she "unique"? She seems like a blonde katy perry to me.

The fact that the sound wasnt so pleasent in the first place isnt helping either.

MikeyG 09-15-2009 01:18 AM

Number one she writes her own music, unlike most of your pop artists these days. How is she like katy perrry? And the fact that YOU don't think her sound is pleasant is your opinion.

Really dude, only reason you say that is cause you don't like her, and your lame 14 year old attempts at being an old wise man get a bit much sometimes do you realize that? Explain to me what you think is unique? It's gunna be the music you like, and I will sit here and tell you I don't think its unique at all.

Leesa 09-15-2009 01:37 AM

I only like Lady GaGa in her live performances, in her normal music/videos, the voice and other effects and stuff ruin everything.

Hm... First of all, how is expressing a musical opinion trying to be a "Wise old man"?

Also, let me point something out:

Lady Gaga is just... ugh. she's like every other pop act these days. i've heard her music, not just the videos, and i still hold my opinion.

YouTube - Lady GaGa - Poker Face (Acoustic - Live)

Mikey, I hate to break it to you...she's never going to blow you, no matter how hard you white knight for her, LOL.

MikeyG 09-15-2009 01:51 AM

Dammit Hrae, you ruined my day :(

Yosei 09-15-2009 02:26 AM

Taylor Swift is a true musical artist. She writes her own music, worked her way up the hard and honest way, and in an impressive amount of time, going to company to company giving them her music until she finally got signed. And she must truly have talent if she got signed before the age of 20.

She doesn't slap her face all over products like Miley, she doesn't need to massively edit her music or dress like some futuristic Madonna like Lady Gaga, and she doesn't need to shake her ass like Beyonce.

I mean, I like Beyonce, but Taylor Swift definitely deserved it =/

Yosei 09-15-2009 02:46 AM

Lawl he's on Jay Leno right now..

He isn't making much sense @_@

MikeyG 09-15-2009 02:49 AM

Yosei, ever thought gaga dresses like she wants not? not to try to be some futuristic madonna as you say xD I hate taylor swifts music but yeah I think she deserved that award more then beyonce did to. Though what kanye did was win, and taylor swifts music blows.

Rightclaw 09-15-2009 02:54 AM

IMO Lady Gaga is one of the most unique pop artists in the last 5-10 years, at least.

Ralath 09-15-2009 05:34 AM

I mean, guys. Come on. We're arguing over the MTV VMAs... they're not exactly like the Grammy's. That whole thing was just one hot mess last night.

Do I like You Belong With Me? Yes. Do I think it was a good enough music video to earn Best Female Video (let's not even talk about how Beyonce can win an award for Best Video of the Year but not win Best Female Video)? No. The MV for You Belong With Me was just pretty average.

I'm not saying Taylor Swift isn't talented. I'm actually like a lot of her songs. But compare her live performance last night (which doesn't include the time she was on the subway train--that part was pre-recorded) with the live performances of Beyonce and Lady Gaga and there really is no comparison in talent here. Last night, she sounded pitchy and out of breath, especially near the end. Beyonce and Lady Gaga give near flawless performances.

Methinks John Dick the triangle player isn't getting enough recognition for his work here.

I know. I suck at age-guessing :\ and that also goes for almost everyone else here in FF whose age I've guessed (or tried guessing >> lol) xD

Hraesvelg 09-16-2009 03:04 AM

Excellent. Now the question remains...will the "conservatives" decide to support Kanye West just because Obama called him a jackass? Even though Kanya said that George Bush doesn't care about black people? It will be interested to see how the pundits spin this one, heh.

i saw what you were TRYING To say. just was a really unintelligent comparison.

And lady gaga and katy perry sound and act very similar, imo. just an opinion.

It really amuses me that people get so worked up about what may be the most disposable form of music ever foisted upon our ears. Pop music is pretty, shiny, utterly forgettable.

Hyper 09-16-2009 03:27 AM

I'll never forget MJ. :cries::cries::cries::cries:

(And no, not because of the countless pedophile jokes about him.)

Really? Then you must like the Beach Boys as much as the Beatles since they sound and act pretty similar too.

No, Kanye West will always be a jackass. The only thing it means is that, for the first time in his presidency, Obama spoke the truth. In my opinion, though, it doesn't really count since it was an "off the record" comment.

1. You compared the situation to the quote, did you not?

2. They sound nothing alike. o_o

The beachboys have a west-coast style of songwriting, and usually center their songs along the beach. The Beatles have a more trippy vibe all their own, and center their ideas around abstract concepts. The only similar SOUNDING song they have to the Beach Boys is "Back in the U.S.S.R.".

Though i suppose the argument could be made that Lady Gaga sings about card games, and katy perry talks about sexual experimentation...

That's kinda of what he was trying to say.
Like an analogy
Saying lady gaga sounds like katy perry, is like saying beachboys sounds like the beatles.

difference: lady gaga and katy perry are similar in both sound and act.

The beatles and the beach boys are similar in neither.

Ralath 09-16-2009 10:16 PM

Alright. This is a fail. You're clearly not understanding the argument.

No, i do. i understand that you see some difference in their music, but there really isnt too much of a discernible change in between their styles, is what im trying to say.
