Like in my head I'd say "used" but my finger typed "just" all the time...

Reminds me of when I'm typing and scatter brained. I'll be typing, and out of habit I will type a word that I'll hear on the TV or see at the corner of my eye.

I try not to do that much net speak, besides stuff like "lol", but I don't like typing stuff like "ur" or "wuz"

a.L 06-05-2009 02:04 AM

Unless you're lazy and use "ur" for everything. xD

When I look at my old chat logs I cringe. :/

Hessah 06-05-2009 02:08 AM

but some of the netspeak describes a certain expression so much better!

Like.. WUT! LOL you can't get the same effect as WHAT!

there's this.. extra crazy WTF touch to it HAHAHA

Yep... Dx

My typos are normally actual words, just the wrong word... I don't mind except when the word actually works in the sentence and changes the meaning. x_X

A_Forever 06-05-2009 02:15 AM

I still can't believe I made that one horrible typo that one time.

Me: Hey! I need that thong
Me: *horrified* thing*******

Esen 06-05-2009 02:16 AM

:o

xDD

*hugs Liz*

Yosei 06-05-2009 02:18 AM

or the infamous "be back in a sex"

A_Forever 06-05-2009 02:18 AM

When playing a game with my brother, I always call him Sex instead of Sec. o:

Hessah 06-05-2009 02:21 AM

I type Cockboard instead of corkboard...

And didn't even notice it...

A_Forever 06-05-2009 02:22 AM

LMAOOOOOOOOOO

Esen 06-05-2009 02:26 AM

lol @ Hessah

Don't think I ever made that kind of typo except the sec/sex one.

Same here. D:
A few years ago, I had a teacher who talked to the class about net speak/texting and actually using it while writing an essay... I was thinking: would anyone actually do that? Maybe for taking notes in class or something, I would understand... but an essay?

"I think they are very inch lor, say bad for short say bad for fat, very much hurt us ga ma..."

"Inch" has the same sound as "mean" in Chinese... so they took the sound then "translate" it into English...

It was like WUT?

LOOOLLL wut. Fail!

Triumph 06-05-2009 04:37 AM

Why bother teaching cursive, really...

It's only useful for signatures. Standard print is faster, and much more legible.

Lirange 06-05-2009 04:39 AM

;O
its been a long time since i've used cursive
at my old private school we would always have to write assignments in cursive, except spelling tests because they didn't want us to forgot how to write it standard

Ralath 06-05-2009 04:41 AM

Right brain, left brain.

Motor skill development.

Also, develops recognition skills of other people's handwriting.

I don't even see people use it for signatures...

It's just a line scribble!

They take a class to write like that. And Yosei is right they do it to prevent people from being able to copy and/or read them. I believe people who work for pharmacies have to be trained to read them as well.

I used to do this a lot until I realized: "Wait I think I've been typing this wrong.." without even noticing...been trying hard to use it correctly now a days but the internet has made it a bad habit...

I remember when they taught it in second grade or so for me they said it's what you will use the rest of your life. So we learned and learned and practiced and practiced, never used it after fourth grade. Let alone high school or anything else.

Hessah 06-05-2009 05:10 AM

We had to learn cursive to get a pen license... HAHA

Ralath 06-05-2009 05:12 AM

What's a pen license? o.o

Hessah 06-05-2009 05:25 AM

a permission to use a pen instead of pencil...

Ralath 06-05-2009 05:39 AM

LOL wUt?!?!?

Are you joking!?

Hessah 06-05-2009 05:41 AM

Well i think we were in year 3? gotta write properly to be allowed to use a pen in class.. hahaha

a.L 06-05-2009 06:11 AM

Memories...

Destrus 06-05-2009 06:12 AM

i've always used cursive o_o and i think i always will. like i said, it's the first way i learned how to write and it's faster for me than print. i can also do it so that only i can figure out what it's supposed to say really easily.

a.L 06-05-2009 06:14 AM

My handwriting is fugly either way. xD

I remember back in grade 1 or something, I got an award for neat handwriting. LOL

Hessah 06-05-2009 06:15 AM

is it an aussie school thing?

Just so i can get this right.. cursive = running writing right?

possibly, i think i've also seen it called linked writing.

oh yea, i forgot, i was learning calligraphy in kindergarten or primary, one of those. kinda wish i had kept with it. not many people do it from what i see.

Phantom Badger 06-05-2009 06:20 AM

Didnt read any posts other than the first xD
/toolazy

But I dont write cursive (Or 'joined up' as it's called over here x_x) I print my words, and I spell wrong alot on the computer. But not to much real life.

I love it because EVERY teacher has asked me to try cursive but then gives up after a week or so. (And yeah, my handwriting sucks. But I can make it smart :3 tho it takes longer)

I beg to differ. All my writing is in cursive. I am VERY slow at writing in print.

Ralath 06-05-2009 10:27 AM

I always use cursive when I'm close to falling asleep in class.

xD

LMAOMALMLOAMLAMOAMAOO I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND YOU!!!!

<-- does that too.

When I write neatly on purpose, I print.

When I write lecture notes, I print + cursive.

When I'm about to sleep, all cursive (or drawing squiggly lines)

Yeah! have you got a copy?!? still got it? I wanna see it xD

It was read out when i heard it so i didnt get to see the words she used xD

Blaaaaaaaah 06-05-2009 12:13 PM

Kk, this was what the thing was about:

"港姐投訴信,勁考你中英文能力呀!今屆參選港姐有人投訴無線評判不禮貌對待,寫信去傳媒投訴不公平,如果 你英文及廣東話都掂,請翻譯,小弟將不吝加分,投訴信原文:"

I can't read all of it, but I think one of the participants for Ms Hong Kong sent in a complaint about the judges (?) being impolite, unfair, or something to that extent.

Complaint:

Quote:

我是 Lucy, I went to Miss Hong Kong first interview. Wah d judges very not polite and not nice law. Today I see a megazine saying this year's Girls so ugly. I saw many good and pretty girls there but they didn't choose ja ma. Don't choose mei suen law but the judge in first interview-- most very not polite to many young girls and to to me law. I only 18 the judges ask me to"why join Miss HK go and why not study la u only F7 ja wor how can fright with other wor." Also say my English bad… hurt die me.

Ho La, other girl tell me la, she study in University ok ga dou but little fat or short then the judge(woman) said " why you look fat or so short!" wah ho hurt ga ma.

One girl is a博士 student ar very high level and very nice ga dou cant get in second interview la. We think she will be in ga but she said no law. You can search her pic and my pic to see la. She gum high level duo ng dak, gum me ng duk duo rite gei but i think the whole choosing is not fair law, choose model mei? young yao inch', high study level yao inch... They onky choose rich girl law so bad.

We don't go and let them inch ga law if they need tall or high level people then why not put in the application form lei.
Waste time!
dou ng fair gei!
u can email me if u want.
Lucy
Some translations:

我是 = I am
博士 = umm.. some university degree I think?

For those who don't know chinese, you probably would barely understand it at all. A lot of the words are actually chinese but they are the pronunciations of the chinese words, haha.

Makes me wonder why she didn't stick to writing in Chinese, if she really wanted to complain and this wasn't a joke.

Blaaaaaaaah 06-05-2009 12:33 PM

Alright I decided to do a translation.

Quote:

我是 Lucy, I went to Miss Hong Kong first interview. Wah d judges very not polite and not nice law.
I am Lucy and I went to the first interview for Miss Hong Kong. The judges are very impolite and are not very nice.

Today I see a megazine saying this year's Girls so ugly. I saw many good and pretty girls there but they didn't choose ja ma.
Today, I saw a magazine that said this year's girls were so ugly. I saw lots of pretty girls there but they just didn't choose them.

Don't choose mei suen law but the judge in first interview--
I don't have a clue what she's saying here.

most very not polite to many young girls and to to me law.
Most of the judges were not polite to the younger girls and to me too.

I only 18 the judges ask me to"why join Miss HK go and why not study la u only F7 ja wor how can fright with other wor."
I am only 18 and the judges asked me why did I join Miss HK and why I am not studying instead, since I wouldn't be able to compete with other people anyway (I think that's what she's saying.. I dunno what F7 is)

Also say my English bad… hurt die me.
No translation needed. Just....HURT DIE ME!!! :cries:

Ho La, other girl tell me la, she study in University ok ga dou but little fat or short then the judge(woman) said " why you look fat or so short!" wah ho hurt ga ma.
Another girl told me she studies at a university. She's a little fat and short but the judge (a woman) said "Why are you so fat and short!" Wah, it really hurts you know.

One girl is a博士 student ar very high level and very nice ga dou cant get in second interview la. We think she will be in ga but she said no law.
This one girl is a (-insert a high university degree-) student and was very nice but didn't get into the second interview either. We thought she would get in but she said no.

You can search her pic and my pic to see la.
You can find her picture and my picture to see.

She gum high level duo ng dak, gum me ng duk duo rite gei but i think the whole choosing is not fair law, choose model mei? young yao inch', high study level yao inch...
She's at a "high level" in study, but she still didn't make it. I think the whole selection process was not fair. They only choose models. They disqualify young ones, the smart ones... (I don't know what "inch" is.. I'm guessing it means disqualify)

They onky choose rich girl law so bad.
They only choose rich girls. SO BAD LOR!

We don't go and let them inch ga law if they need tall or high level people then why not put in the application form lei.
We don't go in to let them "inch" us. If they need tall or "high class" people, then why don't they just put it in the application form?

Waste time!
Waste of time!

dou ng fair gei!
It's not even fair!

u can email me if u want.
You can email me if you want.

Lucy
FOB.

Ralath 06-05-2009 12:35 PM

广东话 D:

The only thing I could translate was...

Wah d.

LMAO

Hessah 06-05-2009 12:36 PM

博士 = Masters

But that's such a laugh LOL

I didnt know people could type like that xD

EDIT:

Don't choose mei suen law
Fine if you don't choose me

F7 = Form 7, so like Year 12?

Inch = Mean.

We don't go and let them inch ga law
We didn't enter to have them talk us down / be mean to us

Ralath 06-05-2009 12:38 PM

博士=doctorate
