Well, I really hate helping people, who will never learn, or like a bunch of people asking for help at once. Like in my geometry class, everyone in my class is asking me how to do this problem when I'm done with my work. And I hate going back-and-forth to people, and what makes it really hard, is me trying to explain it. Since I stutter it sounds like this:

Okay, w-w-hat you do is...um...youuu...do p-p-pyt-thhag's th-he-orem to find the umm....whatchumacall it...the SLANT height! then you...um...multiply that with...umm...the area of the...um...base to get the volume.


Which then, because I stutter too much, they say, "Oh, never mind, I'll ask someone else."

Reading aloud will help the stutter.

(At least, thats what I've heard.)

EDIT: Unless you stutter because of nerves or erm.. -had another reason but forgot what it was-

Ewww...reading...I stutter when I read out loud too. And I'm doing a part in the Romeo & Juliet for my English class.

Reading aloud during your free time, I mean.

I stutter all the time.

Most of my friends, I think got used to it, but when I first changed schools (from elementary to middle school) none of my elementary friends went to my school, and so no one was used to my stuttering. So, NO ONE understood me. But now, most of my friends can understand me, because they're used to my stuttering.

Happens to me too, esp when I try to explain something... coz it's all worked out in the head.. but it's hard to make it verbal...

Well, it's hard for me to slow down. I usually don't think when I talk. Which is why I love the internet/IMing. No stuttering:laugh:

Well, yeah. But I do it anyways...It's hard not to.

and i sometimes pronounce my r's as w's
much worse when i was little

I know a kid who pronounces his r's as w's.

In fact, he's the little brother of my oldest brother's best friend. He's my age. Speech impediment(sp?).

I'd suggest getting a book of poetry and then reading it out loud when you've got some private time. This has helped many people overcome stuttering.

Also, if you can quote poetry, you've got a leg up on a lot of your rivals for the ladies.

I don't stutter too much... unless i'm trying to explain something.. (even if I stutter i can blame it on english being my 2nd language xD)

What I have a bad habit of is not finishing my sentences..

"Yeah that was not......" -couldn't find a word, didn't finish the sentence-

I feel you on the second language business. The most often word I say in French is "errrr...."

I don't usually stutter... I don't s-s-s-s-stutt-t-ter li-li-like th-thi-thissss.. but sometimes I find myself going around in circles when I'm trying to explain something hahaha.

The only times I find myself stutter more is when I'm on the phone, talking to someone I don't know (like, calling up some company to ask things/etc). I really hate talking on the phone with people I dunno ._. There was once where I had to call my uni up for something and I was stuttering a lot for some reason LOL. I couldn't seem to find the right word to explain what I wanted to say so I ended up stuttering.

After I hung up, I thought "wtf" to myself. The woman on the other side must have thought I got speech problems. Sad. Doesn't happen that often though.
