Awww Spirit, its so nice to see such Mother-Daughter love X3

Thanks everyone! It was a mixed birthday:

- I started feeling a head cold the night before and woke with it much worse

- I was suppose top be off but because my hard drive at work had crased and I only got the replacement late Wednesday I had to go ina nd work on some bid pricing and then got very irritated with the guys I support because they are rather inconsiderate.

- in all my distraction with my laptop out of commission I lost connection to calendar updates and missed my hair appointment at 8:00 a.m. (made it for my birthday since I was suppose to be off anyway).

But then

- my hubby bought me a new gold chain for my cross but I couldn't get the jump ring through the bail so he took the chain and my cross to the jeweler to have them put it on and since the chain was slightly shorter than my old one they are ordering a longer chain. So that was really good because I have been so worried the old chain would pop open & I would lose my cross. He also took the old chain to them for them to replace the clasp and remove a couple of knots.

- I had all these wonderful birthday posts to keep me smiling

- Spirit took me out to dinner and it was nice, it turned out through circumstances that it was just Spirit & her hubby with me & my hubby, but that was good because there weren't three & four conversations going all at the same time and no kids to have to try to keep happy & quiet enough for public display.

- Spirit brought me a giant helium balloon with Tweety Bird on it and a pink & a lavender smaller balloon and she brought me three beautiful pink roses.

So it ended a lot better than it started (except for this darn head cold that will haunt me for days)


We are good friends now, but I can tell you, and Spirit will back me up on this, when she was growing up we had a very tumultuous relationship. She, like most kids, thought I wanted too much control of her life & choices. And I, like most parents, wanted to be sure she did not do things that could end in disaster.

Unfortunately, until kids are grown and have to raise their own they don't understand why parents don't just let them go do whatever they want whenever they want, but we, as parents, realize the kids are not immune to the very real threats out there. And while kids think "It won't happen to me", there ate tens of thousands of dead kids who thought the same thing.

I believe Spirit now realizes I was not being the "parent" just because I wanted her to be miserable and unhappy but because I wanted her to be safe and get her education so she would be able to leave the nest and survive the real world.

Now, that's not to say we never disagree anymore, because we do, and always will - that's the nature of us humans. But now it is simply disagreeing as adults rather than the child thinking the parent disagrees because they "just wanna make my life miserable" kinda thing.

Yay for Birthday! KK, gotta countdown to my Birthday - only 364 days to go!

Spirit? Being a handful? I just can't believe it.

LOL, TBH, over time, most women are successful in developing a voice command that you never have to worry about anyone hiding or removing batteries from. :devil:

Nah, she's not up to anything, it is just that she has now raised kids of her own and better understands that my rules and discipline were well intentioned for her safety and survival (not to mention protecting myself from liability lawsuits for damages my kids had to potential to do). :laugh:
