Which part do you count as the wedding? The singing took a really long time because they would sing like 3 verses of everything.

But I just went and looked at her wedding dress since everyone was going nuts over it... I usually don't care for any dresses but hers was simple but elegant, loved it. :3

The fashion commentators were just way too obsessed about the dress. When Kate stepped out of the car and it was revealed that Sarah Burton designed the dress, one of them gasped. And I was like, "They've been talking about Sarah Burton the entire time and you're still surprised?"

The part where the dude talks and they repeat after him.

Ralath 04-29-2011 07:42 PM

Oh. Well, all weddings are that short...

A_Forever 04-29-2011 07:48 PM

Actually, their's was way shorter than any I have been to. Shorter than my parents'

How long can you take to repeat vows?

Blaaaaaaaah 04-29-2011 07:52 PM

I didn't like her dress or her make up =( She also had a boring bouquet!

A_Forever 04-29-2011 08:02 PM

Usually you have your own vows too though..

I'm just sayin' it was short and everything else was pointless.

I thought some parts were actually really important, like the carriage ride afterwards. It's important for both the public and the royal family to engage in that kind of relationship. I was watching the BBC broadcast and they kept mentioning, maybe necessarily, that Kate is (was) a commoner. Her family background consists of, a couple generations ago, miners and airline pilots. And now she's a future Queen (consort). Pretty incredibly once you get your head around it.

The balcony kiss is a little cheesy but the overhead flyby is pretty symbolic.

A_Forever 04-29-2011 08:14 PM

She's a commoner who has millionaire parents. nocareaboutpastgenerations.

Royal family means nothing. They don't do anything. It's just tradition. It's really dumb, imo. The queen just goes to events year round. Honestly, I don't think England would fall apart if the Royal family weren't there.

Blaaaaaaaah 04-29-2011 08:25 PM

Definitely do not hope they will fall apart.... cos that probably means no more Queen's Birthday public holiday for us =(
