Use CCleaner to clean unwanted data and fix registry errors. Use Window's default Disk Cleanup tool afterwards.

Use Revo Uninstaller instead of Window's default uninstaller. You can also uninstall programs on CCleaner.

After uninstalling a program(s), use Autoruns to revome or disable unnecessary startup drivers. You may also find some hidden malware on the way. If you're unsure of yourself, right-click the file and use the search feature. You can also remove some of your startup drivers via Windows Defender.

Thankyou!

I also noticed that after I cleaned my computer, it has gotten faster. LoL loads faster for me, and I don't get the usual 2-3minute unplayable lag at the beginning of every game.

No problem!

Try to come up with a weekly routine to help keep your computer healthy.

I ran CCleaner. And it said it removed 9,800 MB of files. @_@ Isn't that 9GB???

I HAD 9GB OF FILES RUNNING AROUND ON MY COMPUTER DOING NOTHING!? @@

Hraesvelg 12-11-2009 12:21 AM

Are you sure you read that correctly? CCleaner displays the information to two significant digits (just rant it to check):

ANALYSIS COMPLETE - (7.103 secs)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4.24 MB to be removed. (Approximate size)

Are you sure that wasn't 98.00MB? Because even that seems like quite a bit...I can't even imagine having 9GB of junk laying around.

whay kind of files does CCleaner cleans? coz 4mb isn't a lot... (in terms of memory space..)

Hraesvelg 12-11-2009 12:54 AM

Yeah, I clean mine out weekly, plus I didn't include the Firefox cookies/files in the search because I didn't want to close it. I don't have a lot of junk sitting around, but still...9GB? Holy hell.

Ralath 12-11-2009 01:06 AM

Er.... Unless there's a history log, I can't check. x)

CCleaner cleans temporary files that build up over time and cause programs to run slower. CCleaner will let you know what it cleans and doesn't clean on a list to the left. You will not see dramatic changes in speed but rather how fast your programs start. If you want a somewhat faster system without upgrading your hardware, remove unnecessary startup drivers and check for malware.

You can also add virtual memory.

Start > Control Panel > System > Advanced System Settings > (under
performance) Settings > Advanced > (under virtual memory) Change >

Initial Size (MB): 4096
Maximum Size (MB): 4096

Don't forget to click "Set" and restart your system.
