My oh my, but does Fiesta ever need its own eq2flames. In with the screenshots and blacklisting, out with the nanny bs.

Wait, what?

Send a unedited version to Outspark instead.

Ya know.. Spirit usually crosses the names out for the person and puts them back in the post

cillia 02-01-2009 10:25 PM

ah ok ill cross them out asap

Mindspank 02-02-2009 09:40 AM

Thats not blacklisting. Its a friendly warning. It would be like seeing new people move into a neighborhood, and seeing they have kids, then telling them that joe six pack their neighbor was a pederasser. I see no harm in leaving the names in.

If everymember of FF on Bijou wants to drag the guy to the abyss for this, so be it. The guy deserves what he gets. He scams weapons and money for christs sake, and besides, this is the internet. EVERYONE comes here to be petty.

I place my full backing behind Mindspank.

On Fiesta forums it could violate the ToS there, and be considered harassment.

Here, It's more that 'it doesnt even matter', because 95% of the time you're not going to see that person, or even be on the same server - I happened to know who scammed cillia because i happened to be in Elderine with Rewrite at that point. Otherwise, i wouldn't have ever seen them.

Would I randomly whisper them and insult/attack/berate them? No. Anyone who does also deserves to be blacklisted.

(btw cillia, TRUCE IN PVP KQ. I can't kill you during stun D=)

The reason the block on having names with negative claims is simply because they can be too easily forged. I don't think cillia would do this, but it has the potential to be easily abused. We're only getting one side of the story here, and it could cause even more drama in a community.

Also, higher level the better. level 2x cannot enhance t3, and an 8x is less unlikely to scam you because....they're 8x. they put alot of work in that charcter to just throw it away in a scam.

OMG so many people do not know this. Sometimes you can tell who a scammer is by viewing the level of the character. Sometimes I read HP (minus buffs) to average out a person's level before I ask them for anything or they try and scam me. If you can, just buy the items from SC to help you in enhancing, or start saving....early.

While it is true screenshots can be forged, and we are getting only one side of the story, after seeing the guys reaction to my questions about the scam, honestly, he deserves what he gets from the player community. He was upfront and very honest about the scam and that he was proud of taking her staff AND her money. So regardless of what anyone here says about blacklisting, my personal preference is that ill smear this guy every chance I get when I see him in abyss. If you dont feel the same way, or you feel the need to shield shitbags like this because they "have feelings too", thats up to you.

Oh and he is lvl 44 by the way. Higher leveled players are not always honest players.

In this instance, personally, I wouldn't have a problem with disseminating the name. I was just explaining the reasoning for the policy of not naming names, as I understand it. It's just prudent moderation in case someone would start ruining the reputation of an innocent.

Let's say someone wants to cause unwarranted harm to the reputation of a person or guild. They could slap a few screenshots together, concoct a story, get a few friends to "corroborate" it and post the "evidence" on one of the forums here. The person or guild being knocked might not see it and/or respond to it, but it will poison the well of goodwill toward them in time. It's much easier to damage a reputation like that than it is to do damage control later.

Pretty much what Hraes said.
