I think you could have tried explaining to them why you took their room before attacking them back. Maybe you could have tried asking if you could use his/her room and return it when she/he comes back o:

I don't think the person specifically brought 2 clerics to take you out, but just to grind. It was the your opponents' fault that they attacked you in the first place though e__e I wonder what they were thinking? It would have been so much better to ask you what you were doing before trying to drive you away.
