Any images I posted in this thread are Chrome.

Oh that looks pretty cool, i'm gonna download that. Is it just as fast as firefox though?

Lady-Loki 09-27-2008 01:45 AM

It seems to be. Just keep in mind that it is Beta. But I like what I've seen so far.

Loveless 09-27-2008 02:26 AM

It crashes less than Firefox imo... my Firefox hates me. :cries:

I find it to be faster actually.

I like firefox for it's add-ons, particularly ad-blocking. Chrome doesn't offer addons at the moment, it also needs three processes to run. That's a huge downer for me since my laptop's not top of the line.

I'll be waiting for the full release candidate before I decide. I'm always looking out for new software.

Firefox never crashed on me.

I tried Google Chrome.

I had a couple of issues with the way it's doing things atm:

- It adds an updater to your Startup list -> Windows starts more slowly. o.O
- Its program folder is not where you expect it to be: totally stealthed and well hidden in Documents and Settings\[your username]\Local Settings. I mean... it's just a browser, right?
- Its EULA (bet you never read it): initially, it stated that all information transmitted through Chrome will be property of Google :err:. Later it has been modified to something, which I can't remember now. lol
- lack of devs base: fortunately, though, Google has begun inviting developers to work on add-ons for Chrome.
- it's beta but Google's beta tends to have quality of a final release. Look at Gmail. lol

I might change my opinion and use it later but for now, it's definitely not an alternative to the established browsers out there.

I have had Firefox crash on me, but then, I tend to open a couple of browser windows with multiple tabs and overwhelm my system anyway.

And I read/skimmed a bit -but I'm thinking the part in the EULA stated that information transmitted through Chrome will be property of Google was reference in bugs crashes or whatever that are sent by the application, but that could be set to go automatically or you select to submit on occasion. And sis that not similar to wording in most browser EULAs?

And, I'm not married to it yet. I just downloaded it and was liking some of the aesthetics. I like the fact that there is more window and less header, I like the New Tab presentation and I really like the address bar doing calculations like it does. But like I said above, I have different homepages set in different browsers and I have done it that way for a long time so I will probably still use three or four different browsers all the time anyway.
