I was a telemarketer for about 6 months for a charity...

yeah its not easy.. in fact is really boring.. to repeat yourself over and over again.. then get hung up on over and over again...

or i get an old lady that says -very slowly- "ohh i'm very sorry, that's for a great cause, but i'm very poor myself, i would love to help, but i'm just a pensioner and.... .... .... .... "

oooookaaaaaaaaaaay... thank you...

I answer the phone and as soon as they say hello i hang up or i do the sienfeld :D

Me: Im busy right now why dont u give me your number and ill call u back when im ready
Them:im sry i cant do that
Me: cause u dont wanna be bothered at home?
Them: exactly
me: now you know how i feel :D

Don't expect that to protect you. Telemarketers have ways of getting your phone number

LOL! I've never heard of anyone talking with a telemarketer for that long!

Them: Hello, can I interest you in trying out _____________?

For me it's either:
"Stop calling."
"Call me again and I'll sue." (Usually gets them to hang up instantly.)
or
"Screw off. If I didn't want that product yesterday, what makes you think I'd want it today?"

One time I asked how it was in India, and that conversation lasted about 5 seconds...

Yeah it has actually i dont believe ive ever had a telemarketer call my house in
all my life that i can remember.

My grandmother usually answered the phone. They called once and never again.


She has a hacking cough that makes a normal flow of conversation impossible. Despite this she still refuses to put down her cigarettes.


And she has a tendency to ask the most awkward questions. Guess she hates telemarketers too. A classic moment was when she asked the person what kind of contraception they used o_o
