I don't think any family I know still uses all those terms. Like I know the difference between 堂 and 表 but we just simplify and use 表 for everything.

And then it gets a little more confusing when cousins are treated as like brother-sister.................

You simplifying it doesn't make it right..

Basically any cousin with the same surname as you should be 堂
